When rubbish flowers in a cemetery

Tears are the same

She had it; she didn't.

One morning she found it,
and awed and worried she got rid of it.

One morning she wept silently again
wondering what she gave up in life's bargain.

Both cried at what they got
one had and gave it up,
the other gave up 'coz she couldn't have.

Their tears were the same,
though their grief differed;
A child's face in their eyes
was now blurred.

I still live...

Whirring city sounds turn to silence.
Faces in crowd are blurred
In a moment, everything is out of focus,
My eyes heavy, my legs tired.

Standing in the crowd
I can't see any thing but bright light
Not a breeze touches my face
Just a storm inside.

Silent, unattached, solitary I walk
In slow motion, or has it stopped
No, its still beating, my little heart.

I blink and the sounds come back
horns blaring, smoke spewing.
Faces still unfamiliar
Reassuring to be back, or is it?

What we made

The burden of a lie
grows heavier by the day.
The shield of good withers away.
We do nothing
except lie some more.
And hurt ourselves
and bargain sore.
A fragmented mind,
a distracted heart.
A wrecked country
cries from far.
We bear this yoke
that we made ourselves.
And curse it --
yet carry it anyways. -NM

The Fall

Blue sky turns a green of envy
as the body longs for passion,
beyond the worldly chains
I break all bonds and fly.

Flying freely I see the world
Vast yet scary; but I muster courage
and span my wings to glide
far and wide.

But the sight is disappointing,
heartache, pain and suffering.
Greed scorching the goodness within
As dark sorrow stares grinning.

I pinch myself to wake from this dreary dream,
A nightmare it is not I realise.
Now, my wing is injured
from the many arrows of malice being fingered.

Jealously is boiling below,
my balance is lost, but I try to stay low
trying to avoid the dreadful fall
that I allowed to befall.

Click click

Clickety click click click
the sound is muted
but gradually it moves faster, louder
silently like ants marching in the rubble.

The wait

Calm, silent; almost eerie
Sweat trickles down my neck,
the hands of the clock tick freely.
Time passes but slowly this noon
As I wait patiently for the moon.
This lull is deafening
and I am screaming inside
"Don't leave me alone, please don't!", I cry.

But there no one to hear it
and my pretence stays,
That plastic smile smudged on my face.

I live one day and yet another
Waiting for the waiting game to get over.

Memory rides

A chilly night after the lights are out,
I wavered out in the park
The shimmering veil of stars
clothing my mind like a soothing balm.

Alone and in solitude, or should I call it loneliness
I dream with open eyes
of days bygone when summer shone
belie of happiness.

We do things we resent and yet look back to
A memory doesn't fade easily
A face, a smile, some words
A bunch of pictures I still cling to.

A feeling of contentment exists
yet a pain shoots through my chest
but try as I may, I cant hold back the tears I shed, the days I wasted.

I grope in the darkness eagerly
hoping to hold on to my present
something that will pull me back from the memory ride
hold on, says a voice, let go says another
I wither in the dilemma.
